NORTH to Minneapolis??

Well, as I type this is I am relaxing on our nice king-sized bed in our hotel. According to my previous post, this bed should be located in Anchorage, but alas, we are in Minneapolis, MN! Only a short while ago this state wasn't even on our itinerary. Things change...especially with Delta, and the "Crow Curse" as Wesley's dad calls it! Let me rewind for you....

Today started out great! We got coffee from Rumors and we were off to the airport. We checked all our bags and everyone of them were 50 pounds!!!! (Turns out our "stand on the scale and hold the luggage" method worked!) I will admit we had one bag that weighed 51 pounds but the lady let us slide. When we stepped up to the counter, she asked us for our passports. I thought this was kind of weird since we weren't travelling internationally, but I did it anyway. Then, she dissappeared for like 5-6 minutes and came back and said that she couldn't accept my passport because it had my Maiden name on it. I said, "well, that's fine because you can just use my driver's license"...I guess she thought Nome, AK wasn't in the USA...hmm. Anyway, we got all our luggage on and it was time to say our goodbyes! This was really tough! My mom cried!!! Yes, Annette Harris CRIED people! I was shocked! She must really love me! :) We will miss our families so much! I was so happy to have them all there.

We got through security with only minor delays, and then we were off to find our gate! Once we boarded our plane, we sat on it for about 45 minutes before we even took off. We almost took off one time, and me and Wesley were clinging to eachother like static! (I'll admit...I had a tough time being strong!) There were tons of turbulents due to the oncoming storm and I had the barf bag ready...I've never felt so nauseous! I held it in for the sole reason that I knew we were going to have to RUN through the ATL airport to make our next flight and I knew I couldn't do that feeling ill. Turns out... we missed that flight by 4 minutes. My thoughts at this time were, really? They couldn't wait 4 minutes? No problems though, the ATL customer service was so helpful and we were booked on a flight that left in 1 hour in FIRST CLASS!

The flight from ATL to MN was great! We were delayed about 3 hours actually sitting on the plane due to thunderstorms. I say it was great because we were in nice plush leather seats, had plenty of movies to watch, cuddled with our blankets and pillows, oh, and did I mention the FREE bar service! :) This made us happy! Quick story about this... The stewardess came to our seats and asked what we wanted to drink. I said water and Wesley said, "well, how much is beer?". She then said, "Sir, you are in 1st class and you don't pay for anything!"... I felt that I should interject with, "Well, in that case, I'll have a beer!" haha. We also got a free dinner that was very tasty! Anyway, we had fun!

We arrived in Minneapolis at 9:47 and our plane left at 9:45...really?! I wasn't too worried because I knew what happened before. We would just catch the next flight and be flying good in first class. Instead, we got a curly-headed unfriendly customer service rep who printed us a ticket for tomorrow morning at 9:06AM. I just looked and her and said, "Well, now what are we supposed to do." She then handed us 2 overnight packs filled with a toothbrush and a tshirt and sent us off. Mom knows the rest of this story so you will have to ask her for the juicy details haha!
Anyway, back to my opening. So here  we are in this hotel that we payed for. YAY... I had to cancel our reservation in Anchorage because obviously we wouldn't be there. This hotel is nice though and it will be good to get some sleep. Oh, and I forgot to mention... it is right across the street from the Mall of America!! Too bad we can't go!

We are leaving tomorrow at 9:06AM then (if the flight is on time) we arrive in Anchorage at 11:52AM, but wait, our next flight leaves Anchorage at 11:00AM. Two minutes too late. The next flight to Nome is at 5pm. Grrreaat. We will be in Nome around 8:30pm tomorrow night! We are ready to be there! I am so thankful to God for keeping us safe today. Everything happens for a reason...I thought the reason was free beer, but I may be wrong! haha
Till next time,
The Crows

  3. I knew your mom would break down!! What mother can send her baby off to Alaska and not have a good cry about it?! One thing I have taken away from this story...maybe I should NEVER fly with Delta!! What a story you already have to tell.
